Beryl Eichenberger founded Hippo Communications in 2000. Based on a firm foundation of experience in the media and promotions industry, Beryl has built a company which is renowned for its excellent service and exceptional results. She has built a national and international reputation and is known for her innovative approach and for delivering more than expected.

Lynne Smit founded Of Course Media in 2006, which merged with Hippo in June 2011. Her track record includes 28 years' experience as a reporter and sub editor on various publications including the Financial Times (London), The Argus and The Star. She is inspired by the latest news dissemination techniques, including social media. She is a mentor for the World Federation of Science Journalists, the author of three textbooks and editor of a book on education in South Africa.

The Hippo Communications team has four core staff members, but is enhanced by the addition of freelancers when required
Linet Engelbrecht's enthusiasm, outgoing personality and efficient and responsible work ethic has made her a firm favourite with the media. Nothing is ever too much trouble and she strives to improve every project she takes on – to the client’s delight. Her previous work experience as a personal secretary and her organisation and administration skills have made her a valuable member of the team. She works in the Table View office.

Greg Smit joined Hippo in June 2011 after working as an independant IT consultant, providing logistics and support for a international company. Greg is the glue of Hippo Communications behind the scenes. He is in charge of the administration and logistics of the Hippo offices. He has high ethical standards and a belief that only way to do whatever you do is the right way.

Penny Gaines has a love of storytelling, in all its forms. With a
background in Social Work then a leap into the world of media and
hands-on training with Di Paice at Cosmopolitan magazine, she learned the basics and more of journalism. Penny has worked as a researcher on television series’ and has directed and/or produced a number of video documentaries. Before joining Hippo in March, she managed strategic planning and media liaison on a range of projects that included the Spier Contemporary annual art competition and award, the Learning Cape Festival, the SACTWU Cape Town Fashion Festival and the Cape Town Stadium Visitor Centre. penny@hippocommunications.com
Monique Jordaan works on media liaison from the Moorreesburg branch. She has a spontaneous personality and loves to work with people. She likes to help and does her best to complete tasks immediately.
