All media / Academic / Subject Advisors are invited to attend a forthcoming conference on climate change and Africa.Practising the Craft: Writing about Climate Change and Global Warming in South Africa is aimed at journalists and interested parties involved in communicating this vital subject.
From 21 to 24 July 2008 this groundbreaking event will take place at Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden in Cape Town.
Funded by the South African public utility ESKOM, it is being hosted by a new foundation called the Fynbos Foundation and held in association with the Nieman Foundation at Harvard University.
Topics for discussion include: what do we know and what don’t we know about climate change? Extreme weather and the management of risk; global warming and the epidemiology of infectious disease; climate change and food security, climate change and its differential impact on cities and rural areas; the politics and business of climate change; global warming and finding alternative sources of energy, as well as panel discussions on the craft of writing these important topics chaired by leading editors and writers.
We have gathered together a group of highly qualified speakers who will present these interactive lectures and debates and we look forward to hosting you at this event.
